Very Berry Heart Ombre Pancake Stacks

As I mentioned before, I think a great way to show love to those that are special in your life on Valentine’s day is to start out their day in the best way possible. One option would of course be this fabulous Brown Sugar Candied Bacon Bouquet but if you’re more into pancakes I wanted to share with you a super cute way to dress those up! This recipe isn’t really difficult at all and they don’t take much longer than traditional pancakes – so why not make them festive? That’s why I wanted to share with you today how I made these Very Berry Heart Ombre Pancake Stacks.

Now I will remind you that if you decide to do a stack like the one featured here, I would highly recommend threading the heart pancakes on a skewer so they are stable.

First, started out making a half recipe of The Ultimate Pancakes by using bisquick. I began by mixing bisquick baking powder, vegetable oil, vanilla, sugar, milk and an egg together. You can really use any pancake recipe, I’m just satisfied and familiar with this mix.

After it is mixed I would recommend dividing it into three different bowls as evenly as possible. Next, you’ll be coloring the  batter in the bowls. I used gel food coloring. One of the bowls you’ll want to not place any coloring in. I would then put a a little more gel food coloring in incrementally until there was a light version of the color I was going for in the first bowl. Then I  would increase this amount by 50% for the other bowl. Once you’re happy with the color you can begin to make the pancakes.

Next you’ll cook them as you would normal pancakes until they have bubbles in the middle, indicating that they are cooked.

After this you’ll be removing them from the heat and taking a small heart cookie cutter to begin making mini heart pancakes for your stack. After this, continue until you have used all of the batter.

To make the blackberry syrup you’ll begin by running the blackberries through a food processor. You can choose to strain this mixture or leave it be.

Then you’ll be mixing it with sugar, water and the corn starch and water mix. Cook until boiling on the stove and then boil for two minutes. Next you’ll be simmering this mixture for a few minutes, stirring constantly.

Then, pour this over the top of your pancakes and. Next top these with a few blackberries and some confectioners sugar.
